Professional Academic Advising Community

The Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education is the executive sponsor of the Professional Academic Advising Community, which is a group of well over 150 student-facing advising professionals across Cornell. The group meets regularly to advance its mission to:

  • Unify the professional academic advising community and advance an understanding of the practice of academic advising as a profession, and to create and promote a culture of shared language and values;
  • Influence and inform University decisions related to the holistic undergraduate student experience, by leveraging our collective strengths and expertise;
  • Organize an inclusive networking space for members of the academic advising community to discuss current trends as informed by student experiences and the scholarship of the field;
  • Share existing and develop new effective advising practices including the appropriate use of assessment and technology;
  • Organize and support the professional development of academic advisors.
